Self-taught Pleasanton knife-makers design unique blades for Hornet Custom Knives

A few years ago, neither owner of Hornet Custom Knives knew how to make their product. But now, their knife-making skills are on-point. “Most people get started from other people, just to show them how it’s done,” Hunter Paitz, 18, said. “No one showed us anything, it’s all been experimental.” Paitz and Carson Falk, 20, both of Pleasanton, have been friends since they were in diapers, growing up just a mile down the road from each other. At the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey, neither had thoughts of creating a business. Making knives was just an experiment.
